Juliet Ayres is the pen name of a contemporary realist novelist recognised for her unexpected plot twists and compelling characterisation. Her work is research-driven, drawing on careful investigation and meticulous attention to detail to bring her narratives and subjects to life. Her debut novelette, Caught on the Web, was published in 2018, followed by her novel, A Glimmer Through the Breach, in 2022. Alongside her fiction, she is currently working under her own name on a local history book exploring the diverse cultural heritage of early 20th-century Didsbury.

Before turning to writing, Ms Ayres spent nearly three decades teaching English, including Basic Literacy in Further and Adult Education. As a qualified teacher, she continues to tutor English privately.

Born and raised in Manchester, UK, Ms Ayres is the daughter of an Italian mother and an English father. She resides in her hometown with her husband and two Burmese cats, surrounded by her three adult children (one of whom has Down's syndrome) and three grandchildren.
